The world’s largest investment firm BlackRock has warned of further deterioration in the geopolitical situation in financial markets in 2024, adding that asset markets are not fully aware of the risks.
“We expect greater fragmentation, increased competition and less cooperation among major economies in 2024,” BlackRock said in a note to clients. “However, as stocks and other assets move rapidly as a result of geopolitical events, we are concerned that policymakers may not understand that we have entered a new geopolitical regime. In our opinion, the old scenario no longer applies. Due to this, many assets may enter into financial price instability. Strong and sudden price fluctuations will increasingly lead to the fact that there will not be a single valuable financial instrument left in which to invest reliably.”
